Building a website for Cinematographer
Philips Shum is a cinematographer based in Los Angeles. In Hollywood, cinematographers rely on Instagram and websites to showcase their work to prospective directors, so the user experience for the website must be extremely engaging and oriented towards directors. We wanted to create something that allows directors to quickly get a sense of what the cinematographer's style is and watch the work he's done with very low friction.
Taking inspiration from Netflix and Pornhub
During discussions, we took note on elements that work really well for video content websites. We studied how Netflix engages the user by auto-playing a trailer of the TV show so users can get a "taste" without fully committing. On a similar note, Pornhub allows users to preview a video on hover, helping users find videos quicker. We look at both of these examples as a guideline for the project, and got to work.
